| 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful  great before it broke, no service, made in china, By This review is from: Ingersoll Rand 1105MAX-D2 1/4-Inch Composite Air Ratchet (Tools & Home Improvement) i've been a mechanic for 30 years now and have always swore by my older IR tools, the 231 was a classic 1/2 gun that i still have and works great after 20+ years of service. when my mac tool 1/4 air ratchet broke I bought this 1105max. i have really liked it, great power, small, nice control of speed, until it just stopped working. not sure what's going on but it just blows air out with no movement of the head/motor. i just bought it last September and it has a 1 year warranty so no problem, right? wrong :(the only way to get warranty service is to register on their website. and you only have 6 months. i was 3 days late. i figured i would go into a service center and talk to someone but i am in washington state and the nearest center they list is in wyoming! no email address for customer service i could find anywhere on their website. at this point i am done with this company. i will take apart this ratchet and get it working and trade it in to the snap-on guy, who warned me... It takes everything i throw at it for 1\4" uses.I've been using it for a few months now. I've got 5 old ones in my tool box. I have the built in regulator turned all the way down for most everything i use it for, or it would shear off bolts its that strong. I'll turn it up for the stubborn ones. there's only 1 minor issue i had with it, but i fixed it, there's 2 crimp dimples on the body of the ratchet to keep the head on and to keep the head from twisting, but i guess it wasn't crimped enough, so the head was twisting, all i did was use my air hammer with a pointed chisel to crimp the dimple more, now its perfect. not enough to subtract a star. **update** 4/5/12- it broke, or i broke it, either way the ratchet head kept twisting, and since they said i broke it, it wasnt warranteed 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful  very strong and fast, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Ingersoll Rand 1105MAX-D2 1/4-Inch Composite Air Ratchet (Tools & Home Improvement) im very surprised at how strong this little thing is. i had a junk craftsmen 3/8 pro ratchet before that is weaker than this thing. it's nice and compact head fits easily into small spaces.the only problem i've had is adjusting to the speed and power. i tried it on some 8mm bolts and snap both off instantly. now i only use it on 10mm and bigger bolts. |
